On the morning of 14th October 2026 the Forum held its second ‘Member Discussion & Networking Meetings’ for 2026 This time we were kindly hosed in the Bishop’s Kitchen Cafe, Auckland Palace by fellow Forum members The Auckland Project (TAP).
Today’s informal feedback and networking meeting, all over free refreshments, was extremely useful for all attending. Amongst topics discussed were member groups’ current and future projects and work, project funding and inter group collaboration opportunities, skills training needs along with the Forum’s new website and its discounted website creation scheme.

The meeting included 12 representatives from the following Forum member groups – Altogether Archaeology, Architectural and Archaeological Society of Durham and Northumberland, Chilton & Windlestone: Our Heritage, Durham County Local History Society, Friends of St Cuthbert’s Church, Billingham Green , Howden-Le-Wear History Society, Lanchester History Society, Tudhoe and Spennymoor Local History Society and Thorpe Thewles History Group.
